Krohn
Racing has announced its driver line-up for the 2007
Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series season. Team owner/driver
Tracy Krohn will once again partner with Nic Jonnson in the
No. 75 Riley Daytona Prototype while Colin Braun will be
teamed with 2004 Rolex Series co-champion Max Papis in the
team’s No. 76 entry. Boris Said will join the No. 75 crew
for the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona while JJ Lehto will be the
third driver in the sister No. 76 car for the
twice-around-the-clock January classic.
The team
has also confirmed a switch from Ford to Pontiac power for
the 2007 season.
“We’re
ready to get the new season underway and get back to Daytona
with a great line-up of drivers,” Tracy Krohn said. “A Top
Five finish last year with the new team was great, but we’re
coming back to win this year.”
“We’re pleased with the drivers we’ve compiled for the year
and Daytona,” said Krohn Racing Team Manager Jeff Hazell.
“We’re very glad to welcome Colin and Nic back to the team,
as well as adding Max as a full-time driver for the season.
Boris helped us attain a victory at Watkins Glen in 2006 and
we’re glad he’s joining us for the 24 Hours. Adding JJ and
his endurance experience for the Rolex race is another asset
for Krohn Racing.”
Jorg
Bergmeister, who won the 2006 Rolex Series DP Championship
driving for Krohn Racing, will not return to the team in
2007. The German was released from his contract to pursue
his quest of rejoining Porsche as a factory driver.
Newcomer
to Krohn and to Rolex Series Daytona Prototype racing is JJ
Lehto. The versatile Finn was last behind the wheel of a
sports car in 2005, racing in the American Le Mans Series
with a Champion Audi R8. It will surely not take too long
for Lehto to get to grips of a DP. |
