Colin forced to sit out Sears Point Grand Am race
Ovalo TX - Colin will not be
driving this weekend in the Krohn Racing #75. Grand Am has
suspended Colin. As Grand-Am said: "Following a further on
track contact incident at Watkins Glen, your Grand American driving
privileges are suspended until September 1, 2007."
On the strong recommendation of Krohn
Racing, Colin appealed the ruling and the team presented grounds for
the appeal. John Bishop denied the appeal today and Colin will
not be in Sonoma this weekend.
Colin would like to clear up one
point.
Despite what was said on SPEED TV,
he was never told by anyone at Grand Am that he was on probation or
that he would be suspended if he had contact with other cars.
He fully supports the right of
Grand-Am to suspend him without placing him on probation first.
Colin will be testing the Roush
Fenway Racing ARCA car Tuesday in Chicago then practicing pit stops
this week at the Roush shop before his first ARCA race in St Louis
on August 31.
The Krohn Racing press release:
Krohn Racing team driver
Colin Braun appealed the suspension levied by Grand-Am Road
Racing officials on Thursday, August 16th on the
advice of his team.
The appeal was heard by
Grand-Am Commissioner John Bishop, who did not accept the appeal
plea.
The Krohn Racing team is
making arrangements to secure a substitute driver while Colin is
under suspension from the forthcoming race this weekend at
Infineon Raceway at Sears Point in Sonoma, California.
The Krohn Racing team
looks forward to Colin rejoining them at the Miller Motorsports
Park, September 15th.
Krohn Racing Team Owner
statement by Tracy W. Krohn:
“The team is confused by
the ruling, however, we accept the commissioner’s decision. We
look forward to putting drivers on the podium this weekend. We
think this is a great racing series.
