8-3-2007 - Colin has rough time in Montreal

Colin Braun had a challenging race Friday afternoon in the inaugural Montreal 400 race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada.

The No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley, was relinquished to co-driver Colin Braun at the first caution. While battling with brakes and traffic on the narrow track, Braun came together with a couple of cars avoiding a spinning car in turn 2, causing body and wheel damage. With just 68 laps completed in the anticipated 92-lap race/two and one-half hour race, the No. 75 Krohn entry of Braun and Nic Jönsson had to settle for 14th position.

The No. 10 SunTrust Pontiac Riley of Max Angelelli and Jan Magnusson took their second victory of the season. The No. 91 Pontiac Riley of Matthews/Riley Racing finished second and the No. 99 Gainsco Pontiac Riley of Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty were third.

The No. 01 Ganassi team continues to lead the 2007 Daytona Prototype Team points championship (unofficially) by just two points over the No. 10 SunTrust team (319-317). The No. 99 Gainsco Racing team is third with 310 points. The No. 75 Krohn Racing team continues to maintain fourth place with 276 points.

Colin Braun, driver, No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley:

“Overall, this was a tough weekend. Everyone was bumping into each other. The race was filled with lots of banging and we had some brake problems. It was a tough race. The Krohn guys did a really good job. I feel bad for team that we had all these problems. It was a challenging race – a tough place to pass and there were a lot of cars here this weekend with the GT cars running with us. I think we can go to Watkins Glen and get a good finish.”

The next race, Round 12 of 14, will be at the popular Watkins Glen International circuit in Watkins Glen, New York for the Crown Royal 200 at the Glen on August 9-10, 2007. The race will be televised tape delay on SPEED TV on Friday night, August 10 at 10:00 p.m. EDT.

Directly after Watkins Glen, Colin will be testing at Gateway International Speedway in St Louis, in the #99 Roush Fenway Racing ARCA entry.  This is in preparation for his first ARCA race for the team and Ford Racing later this year.
