1-31-2008 - Nationwide test
in Vegas goes well for Colin
Las Vegas NV - Filling in for Greg Biffle
in the #16 Citi Financial Ford Fusion, Colin helped the team
continue the work started by Greg the day before. Greg had to
go to Fontana with the Sprint Cup team and Colin and crew chief
Eddie Pardue finished off the test plan.
Colin had run at Vegas before in the #6 Con-way
Freight Ford F-150 NASCAR truck but the Nationwide car was not as
forgiving. The truck is flat out around the 1.5 mile track,
where the Nationwide car requires a lift on both ends. Colin
was 29th fastest of the 41 cars using the teams back up car.
Early in the day Colin was in the top 10 but as
teams started to put new tires on and do some qualifying runs he
slipped down the order. Right after lunch the crashing started
with 2 Roush Fenway Racing team cars hitting the wall as well as a
Hendrick car and 3 others. The team was happy to get the test
items done and put a clean unscratched car in the hauler for the
long trip back to the shop in Charlotte.
